LOCATION:

  • This house is located in the Province of Avila, 2 Kilometres from Barco de Avila, on the N-110 road (Soria-Plasencia).

  • The house is situated within the Regional Park of Sierra de Gredos (Gredos Mountain-Chain), very close to the Jerte Valley (Province of Cáceres) and the La Covatilla Ski Resort (Province of Salamanca).

THE AREA:

  • Next to the village and over the bank of the Aravalle River passes the Royal Way, also called Cordel, which Carlos V used in his last journey to the Monastery of Yuste. Now this way is used as a pasagge for the cattle that move from winter to summer pastures towards Extremadura.

  • The Aravalle River, fed by the Tormes River, carries cold, crystallined water that originates from springs in the mountains that form the valley and give place to numerous “pools” and water holes. These are easy to reach from the house on foot and are ideal for swimming in the summer. Moreover there are many small lakes (“lagunas”) in the area, such as the Laguna del Barco, Laguna de Duque, Laguna del Trampal, etc, which are a delight to the eye and easily accessible.

  • The village is located in the Regional Park of Sierra de Gredos, at a height of 1120 metres. The valley is surrounded by snow capped mountains almost the whole year, with abundant and varied areas of pine trees, chestnut trees, ash trees, oaks, alder trees and black poplars. From the house you can also enjoy excellent views of the Sierra de la Covatilla, where there is also a ski resort.

  • At few metres from the house, close to the stream the house is named after, there is a spring with abundant drinkable water.
